Innovation and Dedication with True Social Impact
| For most people, an ATM is a quick, everyday stop—insert card, withdraw cash, move on. But around the world, that familiar screen is taking on a deeper purpose: becoming a channel of hope in moments when every second, every witness, and every glance matter. In 2020, Euronet launched an initiative to partner with national law enforcement authorities and dedicated NGOs responsible for searching for missing persons. These organizations depend on the swift, widespread visibility of each alert—because any one of us might hold the clue that brings someone home. And an ATM screen, viewed attentively by millions every day, has the power to deliver that visibility. More than 500 missing person alerts have appeared on Euronet ATM screens across six European countries. Thanks to information provided by citizens who saw these alerts on our ATM screens, 89 individuals have been reunited with their families. For us, there is no greater achievement. It is a powerful reminder that technology designed for convenience can also touch lives in the most human way. This collective effort was recently honored by the ATM Industry Association with the “Game Changer Award – Technology for Social Good”. It recognizes our work transforming ATM screens into a platform for urgent alerts and community‑driven messages—and it reflects the potential of simple ideas that make a real difference. A Moment of Attention that Matters Unlike traditional billboards or digital ads, ATM users are fully focused on the screen in front of them. That moment of attention makes ATMs uniquely effective for displaying time‑sensitive, high‑visibility alerts. At Euronet, our ATMs sit in thousands of high‑traffic locations, where millions of people see our welcome screens every day. This reach creates an unexpected opportunity: A true example of how technology can do more than enable transactions. It can change lives. Seeing Existing Systems Through New Eyes In 2024, Euronet received an Honorable Mention Award from the National Police in Spain for contributions to crime prevention – an unprecedented recognition for information‑security professionals, that underscores our commitment to security through multiple angles. It is an example of how even everyday infrastructure can have a second, meaningful dimension. And a reminder that “doing good” does not always mean building new systems. Sometimes it is enough to look differently at the ones we already have. |
